Girl, If You Are Looking For A Sign, This Is It!
(This is a republished post from October 2018)
Trust me I’ve been there? God’s been telling you what you should do but you’re fighting against your calling. Putting the signs down to coincidence or feeling that if you do this first, or get that done first then the time will be right. Plus others are doing it so well and you feel like there is no room for you. Feelings of inadequacy, comparison, and inferiority start creeping in. So there you are still praying about it, but really you are just delaying doing it.
Comparison and that feeling of ‘who am I to shine?’ held me back. Well, actually who am I not to shine?
One day as God was working on me this message popped up in my social media, “It doesn’t matter how over-saturated the market is. If God called you to it, there is room for you”. I just wanted to bawl, because I knew I just needed to be obedient and get on with what God is telling me to do!
I was ready to stop just knowing and start doing what God says. I was stepping into the vision He had given me. Afraid, but the most afraid fearless person you will ever meet.

Here are a few things I learned on my journey from knowing to doing:
1) Stop comparing your beginning to someone else’s middle or end.
Often we look at someone who is at the end goal, and suddenly we feel left behind or late, which causes jealousy or inferiority. When God is preparing you and equipping you for what He has called you to do, don’t compare yourself to someone who has been doing it for 10 years. Pray against those thoughts as God’s timing is perfect, for you and for them. Be inspired by them, cheer them on, admire them, learn from them and pray for them that they can continue to do their good works according to His will as you will also!
A flower doesn’t decide not to bloom because of all the other beautiful flowers around it. One flower doesn’t say to the other ‘oh look, there are way too many beautiful flowers out there, so I’m going to stop my own growth”. Now that would be silly. But often, we hold ourselves back because of comparison, or because we don’t want to seem like we’re competing.
Flowers beautify the world with different colours, styles, petals, and scents & in different seasons. Some flourish better outdoors, some indoors. Some complement each other to make the perfect bunch. Let’s all grow and bloom together.
Girl, the answer is to keep your eyes on Jesus, slay in your lane and before you know it, you’ll be hitting those godly goals too. We all have to start somewhere and the beginning is a fine place for that! As long as you start. My Friend, It’s Time To Bloom
2) Don’t do a Jonah! Stop running and hiding from your calling.
Souls are waiting for you to share the good news. Jonah was given a specific message, for specific people, for a specific time. He delayed by running and hiding. Whilst his tumultuous journey on the boat allowed the sailors to see who God is, the following period of darkness and isolation was harsh! Have a little more faith than Jonah and most certainly a better attitude.
We are all called to share Jesus with others. There is a gift and a calling that God has put on your life to do this. Girl the world is waiting for you to shine your big light – Jesus.
There’s room for everyone at God’s table, and when you delay in ‘actioning’ your calling, you delay someone’s invite to sit at the table and to feast on the delightful fresh daily bread of salvation, hope, grace and wonderfulness that God gives.
Faith without works is dead. Acknowledge and trust in God to be your strength and He will make your path clear. Proverbs 3:6
Philipians 4:13 Just ask him to help with the net step and take it!

3) Jonah, Moses, Peter, and Gideon, just to name a few, are all men who focused on their own inadequacy
Let’s learn from our biblical mentors; let’s learn from their victories and mistakes. Instead of focusing on our inadequacy, let’s focus on God, who is El Shaddai, God almighty! Almighty! All Mighty! Stop focusing on your weakness and focus on HIM!
He is:
Jehovah Raah – The Lord is my Shepherd
Jehovah Jireh – The Lord will provide Gen 22:14
Jehovah Ori – The Lord my Light Psalms 21:1
Girl, do not let fear, comparison or feelings of inadequacy steal your joy or stop you from stepping out in faith. God created you for a divine purpose. It’s natural to feel fear; it can be very helpful in indicating that we should take a deeper look at what’s going on around us. It indicates that we’re out of our comfort zone. But when God calls us to something, and He has given us the confirmation, we can acknowledge the feeling of fear, but we act on faith and do it anyway.
You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you – Philippians 4:13
Girl, it’s time to go. And remember that God is with you! Matthew 28:19-20
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
If He has called you to it, No matter what the world says, he will bring you through it.
My friend, it’s time to bloom!

This is SOOO true! Faith requires the path to be unclear. And without faith, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to please YAH. So keep pleasing HIM 🧡
Comparison is more than a stumbling block it can be a dream killer. It’s so important to embrace who God uniquely made us instead of who we are in comparison to others.
I love this!! what sweet reminders. It definitely is past time for me to bloom. and THIS really was my sign. I have been putting off things I KNOW I am called to do because I am simply lazy and mostly afraid. That stops now. thank you thank you
Now this is a post I absolutely enjoyed reading. Thank you for the reminder and for the encouragement. May you be blessed beyond your measure.
This is SO important! I don’t consider myself Christian, but this message absolutely resonates with me! We need to step out of our comfort zone and share what God/the Universe has called us to do!
That was much needed today. thanks for sharing this
I needed this encouragement. Thank you so much! I fall into comparing and fear and there’s no room for that alongside the faith I have.
‘Stop comparing someone else’s end to your beginning.’ Yes, girl! I love that – it’s so true and it’s exactly what women do, but need to stop doing!
Wow! Thank you for sharing this experience. I know I needed to hear it. I often doubt myself and my abilities. And I know I shouldn’t.
This is exactly what I needed to hear today. I always find it hard to stay motivated or feel like maybe I’m wasting my time or keep thing about what if I fail but you know what? You’re right! If god brings you to it, he will bring you through it. thank you
I so needed this. We’re studying Jonah in our Bible Study right now and I’ve never actually applied the idea of him running from God’s calling and me running from God’s calling, but it’s all the same. Thank you!
What a beautiful message! Your blog is stunning! Thank you for linking up at Salt & Light!
Hey girl.
Wow, this is speaking directly to me. Thank you so much for writing this and following Jesus on this topic. It’s a sign. You have no idea, thank you!!!
Bookmarked for safe keeping!
Not comparing is where I struggle a bit. You don’t always hear about people’s failures only the success. When you are working so hard and don’t see results it’s difficult to hear how other people succeed. These are important to remember. Rachel from Explore Kid Talk
Thanks for this encouraging post. I know I definitely compare myself to others and wonder those very thoughts of whether the market is already saturated, and whether I can make any kind of difference or impact. We have to remember it’s not dependent on us. Unfortunately when we do start comparing ourselves to others, we take our eyes of God and what he can do even in our weakness.

Such a beautiful peace, feeling super encouraged. “Don’t compare yourself to someone who has being doing it for 10 years” #the hope table#
’Feel the fear and do it anyway’…LOVE IT!!! It’s not often you hear messages that encourage you to run towards the thing you are afraid of, but it’s absolutely essential for growth.

Yes indeed! Who are you not to shine?
It is God’s presence and strength that equips us to do what He is calling us to do, not our own strengths or lack thereof.
This post is confirmation of what God is calling me to do (offer a course to help women discover their unique identity and grow in confidence, courage and creativity).
