When life is bountiful, overflowing, our cup runneth over, and all is well, it’s easy to give, bless, share, and show kindness, when you have plenty. To gift others from your overflow is still a gift, but what about when you have very little to present? In your cup is just dregs. It takes heart to give from the little that we have.

“He looked up and saw the rich dropping their offerings into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow dropping in two tiny coins. “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For all these p eople have put in gifts out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.” – Luke 21

You Are Seen, Even Among The Crowd

Can I tell you that your little means a lot to God?

In the book of Saint Mark (NLT version) it says:

“Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.”

This version uses the word crowd. God sees you in the crowd

This woman has lost her husband. She was alone. And we don’t know the full extent of her story but we know she showed up. She showed up with her gift. Offering all she had. Sometimes when we go through hardships, we may want to hide away in isolation, where no one sees us and not show up. And in challenging times it’s easy to think God doesn’t see us. That we are going unnoticed. That God only has his eyes on those that have ‘perfect’ lives and that they’re the ones who are truly blessed. But God sees you, giving all you have to serve Him. He sees you. Even among the crowd,

This Speck Of Dust

And sometimes, just giving what little you have looks like saying:

‘Regardless of what I face today, despite my hardships and challenges, my God, I will offer you all I have. Though it be but little, I will bless and serve you with my all. Though bad times hit me, loneliness wants to consume me, and everyone around me seems rich in life, love and perfection; Mighty God, I will find my perfect peace in you. Nothing will keep me from your presence, from blessing you with my tiny gift.

Though hardship attacks this page of my life, I will let your victory be the end of my story.

Rejection and hurt have tried to take root in my heart, but I will only allow your word to live here, and I will shout them to the ends of the Earth.

I’m exhausted from family commitments, yet still, I will worship you.

My marriage is challenging in this season, yet still, I will praise you.

My job has taken all my energy, but I will still lift my hands in surrender before you.

Though my schedule seems packed, I will fight for time with you today.

Though hardships and scarcity loom over our society, I will trust and serve you in all of your abundance.

Though I don’t have the most degrees at the table, I still trust that you will use me in the workplace.

Though I do not have a mighty platform, I will use every opportunity I have to gift the good news of your salvation to others.

Though life has tried to label me a victim this morning, I will dress up in the armour of God daily, as a victor in your mighty name.

The stones will never have to cry out because this speck of dust will.

I Give It All To You

I think of the scripture that says we can not live by bread alone but by every word you have spoken, mighty God. Because what good is a full pantry if I have a dying soul? What delight is a prettily decorated table of feasts if my spirit is parched? My God, I may have a little, but I have a lot to give you. I may only have a little, but I give you, mighty God, All That I HAVE.

An poor widow has entered God’s story for humanity. She is unnamed but is now known by thousands of generations. She’s an inspiration to us all, because she had little to give but she gave her all. What her world saw as little, God saw as more than all.

What gift do you have to offer that God wants you to use to glorify His name, and show heaven on Earth though the world might see it as small?
